Ontario winters find the weak spots in a house. Before the snow sticks, Anton looks at the five places winter hits first:

What Anton checks
Moisture
Basement walls and floors, under sinks, around tubs and toilets. Stains, musty smells and soft spots tell a story.
Attic and insulation
How much insulation you have, frost or stains on the roof boards, blocked vents and fans that dump into the attic.
The panel area: a visual look
We look at the panel area for warning signs like heat marks, rust or water. We only look: we never open it or work on it. If something looks off, we tell you to call a qualified pro.
Roof line
Shingles, flashing, gutters and downspouts from the ground and the eaves, and the signs of ice-dam risk.
Foundation cracks
We photograph and measure what we find, and tell you which cracks are normal and which ones to watch or fix.
Windows and drafts
Where the cold gets in: window and door seals, weatherstripping, caulking and the attic hatch.
